Shield Foundation Repair, Edmonton’s premier foundation repair contractor, is looking for a Field Technician to join our team of foundation repair professionals. Make no mistake, this is a professional, intermediate position in charge of crew oversight and management. We’re looking for career-minded individuals with a solid construction background and at least three years’ experience on site who aspire to do a job the right way, the first time.
The position will involve regular customer communication as well as daily interaction with Shield senior staff in the field and in-office. The Waterproofing Foreman is an integral part of the field team and carries out foundation repair and waterproofing processes by the direction, policies and objectives set by the Field Operations Team and Site Superintendent.
Responsibilities
- All manor of foundation repair and waterproofing residential and commercial work sites.
- Preparation, execution of work, and clean‐up on job sites.
- Waterproofing using torch-on, liquid and self-adhesive.
- Inject cracks as required.
- Loading and unloading of materials, tools, and equipment.
- Removing debris, garbage, and dangerous materials from sites.
- Use various construction power tools and equipment.
- Assembling and breaking down barricades, temporary structures and shoring.
- Assisting with transport and operation of heavy machinery and equipment.
- Regulating traffic and erecting traffic signs.
- Demolition (interior and exterior).
- Install sump pumps, pits, weeping tile, window wells, vertical drains.
- Assist in the building of temporary support walls and structures.
- Digging (hand and excavator) tunnels, and holes.
- Mixing, pouring, and levelling concrete.
- Identify hazards on site and contribute to a safe work environment.
- Assist in supervising, coordinating and scheduling foundation repair work for waterproofing projects.
- Adhere to strict scheduled deadlines; if unable to, work with Field Operations to meet schedules by coordinating the work activities with other crews.
- Provide input to Field Operations regarding project completion timelines, crew dynamics and structure, efficiencies in work.
- Work with Field Operations to resolve job costing and performance problems to ensure profit margins are met.
- Train junior crew members on you team (waterproofing skills, safety, adherence to Shield policies and procedures).
- Recommend personnel for promotions and recruitment.
- Complete project progress and completion paperwork (JHA’s, timesheets, safety documents, work order package).
- Ability to operate heavy equipment (use of excavator, skid steer, light commercial vehicle with and without trailer).
- Haul/move soil, rock, clay and debris as required.
- Basic landscaping, tree and plant removal.
- Assist in directing Hydrovac services and other site subcontractors.
- Vehicle pre and post trip paperwork; follow up on required repairs.
Education, Skills & Qualifications
- University or college diploma preferred.
- Valid Class 5 Alberta issued driver’s license.
- Completion of CSTS (Construction Safety Training System) training.
- First Aid training.
- Three to five years of construction experience, specially in foundation repair and waterproofing.
- Experience with concrete forming, rebar detail, and finishing an asset.
- Must have the ability to work in trenches and practice safe shoring practices.
- Physically able to perform job duties.
