Commercial Site Foreman

Department: Field Operations
Reports To: President
Employment Type: Full-time
Location: Edmonton, Alberta
Salary: $85,000 to $90,000 annually

Shield Foundation Repair is looking for an experienced Commercial Site Foreman with waterproofing and restoration experience to join our commercial division. This is not an office-based Project Manager position. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on construction professional who knows how to run a commercial restoration project because they have done the work themselves. You will be on site working alongside the crew: directing and performing the work, training staff, solving problems and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently and to Shield’s standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and work alongside commercial estimators and field crews.
  • Take ownership of day-to-day project execution from mobilization through completion.
  • Plan and coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, sequencing, and daily site activities.
  • Read drawings, specifications and scopes of work and translate them into field execution.
  • Direct and train field employees to maintain productivity, safety, and workmanship standards.
  • Identify and resolve site issues to keep projects moving.
  • Coordinate with management, clients, consultants, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Monitor project progress, labour and material usage and communicate changes or concerns.
  • Maintain safe, organized, and professional job sites.
  • Complete required project documentation.
  • Assist with project planning, estimating, take-offs, and change orders as required.
  • Physically perform the work. This is a hands-on leadership position.

Technical Experience

Significant hands-on experience in commercial waterproofing, concrete restoration and/or building envelope work, including:

  • Waterproofing, protective coatings and traffic coating systems
  • Crack and structural injection systems
  • TREMCO and SOPREMA products and systems
  • Torch-applied and liquid-applied waterproofing
  • Structural concrete preparation and repair
  • Parkade and building envelope restoration
  • Sealants, membranes, and surface preparation
  • Manufacturer-specific application requirements

Experience with occupied commercial buildings, parkades, multi-residential properties, and complex restoration projects is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

  • Extensive hands-on commercial construction, waterproofing and/or restoration experience.
  • Proven experience leading crews and running active job sites.
  • Strong practical knowledge of construction methods, sequencing and problem solving.
  • Ability to assess what needs to happen next and make it happen.
  • Comfortable directing, training, and working alongside field crews.
  • Strong understanding of job-site safety and safe work practices.
  • Ability to read drawings, specifications, and technical product information.
  • Strong communication, organization, and site-management skills.
  • Valid, clean Class 5 driver’s licence; Class 1 is an asset.

The Person We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who knows the work and does the work. Someone who takes ownership, can lead a crew and is equally comfortable directing the project or putting on their PPE and getting into the work themselves. If you’ve spent years in commercial waterproofing, concrete restoration or building envelope work and want to take ownership of projects while remaining hands-on in the field, we’d like to hear from you.

Compensation

  • $85,000 to $90,000 annually, based on experience
  • $750 annual Health Spending Account
  • Company vehicle and fuel card
  • Full-time, permanent position
